Maharani's Science College for Women, Bangalore was established in 1917. The college was established by the Queen Regent of Mysore. The College is affiliated to the University of Mysore and is under the administrative control of Department of Collegiate Education, Government of Karnataka and University of Mysore. Financial assistance is provided by the Government of Karnataka, the University Grants Commission and contribution from students, alumni and college development council. College began as a primary school for girls in 1881 and over the years grew into a First Grade College. This college holds a unique place in promoting Women’s Education since its inception. Initially the college offered both Arts and Science education at undergraduate level. In the year 1979 the college was bifurcated into Maharani's Science College for Women and Maharani's Arts College for Women to accommodate the growing number of students seeking admission.
