Defence & Naval Exam

 

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), India conducts National Defense Academy & Naval Academy Examination (NDA exam) to recruit candidates to the Army, Navy and the Air force wings of the National Defense Academy (NDA)

 
Candidates are required to give his preference for the service he wishes to join, however the final decision also depends on the rank he score in the merit list.
 
The candidate should first decide their preference for the two different academies namely, 
 
National Defense Academy 
Naval Academy (Exclusive branch) 
 
If a candidate prefer NDA as his first choice, he has to then give his preferences for the three wings of the NDA i.e. Army, Navy, Air force, followed by his preference for Naval Academy. 
 
Alternatively, if he gives his first preference for Naval Academy, he has to follow it with his preference for the three wings of the NDA.
 
Exam Schedule
 
Notification of Examination - October - Novermber & April - May
Conduct of Examination - April - May & September - October
Age Limits
 
16-1/2 - 19 Years on 1st January of the year of examination.
 
Educational Qualification
 
For Army Wing of NDA - 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of school Education, or equivalent. 
For Air Force and Naval Wings of NDA and for 10+2 (Executive Branch) Course at Naval Academy - 12 th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of school Education with Physics and Mathematics, or equivalent
 
Candidates appearing at the 12th Class Examination are also eligible to compete. Such candidates will be required to submit the proof of passing the 12th Class Examination by a date to be specified in the Commission’s Notice for the Examination.
 
Scheme of Examination
 
Paper I : Written Exam 
1. Mathematics (Objective type) - 300 Marks 
2. General Ability Test (Objective type) - 600 Marks 
Total marks for written examination - 900 Marks 
Part II : Marks for SSB Interviews 900 Marks
